Types of Mercury Car Keys

There is a vast selection for the different types of Mercury car keys, ranging from a transponder key to a remote car key.

Transponder keys

A transponder car key has to be programmed to sync with your car’s computer otherwise the car will not start unlike a bladed key. It has a coded chip which is covered with a protective plastic body. Consequently, when you insert the key into the car, the code must be identified by the car’s computer otherwise it won’t lock or unlock. This is a great security measure ensuring that other keys won’t be able to unlock your car, protecting you from theft or damage. Creating a duplicate transponder key is a lot less costly than having to make a whole new one. Transponder keys tend to take a lot more time to work due to trial and error with the intricate programming between car and key.

A Remote Car Key

A remote key is another type of Mercury car key. This type of key enables the user to unlock the car without inserting the key into the keyhole (Perfect if it’s dark)

The doors can be unlocked or locked with the simple click of a button. Radio transmitters in the key are recognised by the receiver in your car enabling you to access the car without directly inserting a key.

Similar to the transponder, the remote car key must be programmed into the car’s computer. Without doing so would render it useless (and a waste of money)

This again reduces the threat of threat or damage due to this added security measure.

Bladed Car Key

Mercury KeyA bladed car key is the standard run of the mill key. You insert the key into the lock and twist it to either unlock it or lock. This type of Mercury car key is combined with the use of mechanics rather than the use of programming. There is nothing significantly special about this key but it can somethings have a longer life than electronic keys. Unfortunately this kind of key can be easy to replicate and adds an additional threat of theft or damage. It is one of the cheaper keys but has no security benefits other than the ability to lock or unlock your car.

LA Car Key Pros

It isn’t unusual to disregard how important it is to keep track of our car keys. Many people then come to the quick reality that when you misplace your car keys, there is absolutely no way around it without the use of your car or vehicle.

Fortunately, car keys can be replaced. However, many cars now have laser cut car keys which is a lot more complicated than how keys used to be cut. Losing your keys can be a massive inconvenience. Luckily, car key replacements can be made fairly quickly but will obviously cost a fair few pennies. Some keys take longer than others but that is due to the programming aspect of creating the perfect key for your car.
